Day 1:
|
- Arrive in the City of
Veracruz
- Our local trip guide will
be waiting for you upon your arrival at the Veracruz
Airport. You will travel an hour north to the small
easide town of Chachalacas and check in at Hotel La Pingui
(Ping-goo-we). This 16 room hotel is run by a local Mexican
family. Personalized service is the key as they also live
there. The sign above their information desk reads, Su Casa
en la Playa (Your House by the Beach). The rest of the day
is free to explore the town. The hotel is located a short
walk from the sandy beaches of the Gulf of México.

Archeological Ruins / Spanish
Conquistadors / First Church built in the Americas / Soak in
Thermal Pools
-
After breakfast, we will travel
to explore the archeological ruins of Cempoala.
These ruins were once the capital of the Totonac people with
an estimated population of more than 25,000. Most of the
structures date back to the 14th and 15th Centuries. Then we
will visit the town of Antigua where Hérnan Cortez and his
army of Spanish Conquistadors first landed and also
learn some history about the Spanish invasion of the Americas.
Still standing in the small town of Antigua is the first
church ever built in the “new world.” Lunch will be at a
small restaurant with a nice tropical view of a lake. Then we
travel a short distance to the town of Los Baños (The Baths).
It is here that we will find hot natural springs flowing up
from the earth. Some local folks have built swimming pools to
capture this clear hot water and we will have the opportunity
to relax in these therapeutic waters. We will again
overnight in Hotel La Pingui. (B,L,D)

Catemaco and in the evening, experience a Temazcal Ceremony

beautiful waterfalls. It is there we will have a rustic
