We will pick you up - One of our English/Spanish speaking guide will pick you up at your accommodations or wherever you will be in the city of Veracruz on the morning of this one day trip.

Not far from the port city of Veracruz, you will find the area where the Spanish ships of Hernan Cortéz first landed in 1519 to begin their conquest that would have a lasting impact on the culture of México and beyond. This private one day excursion will give you a firsthand look at where Cortez and his soldiers came ashore and what took place in the first months after their arrival.

Description: You will be picked up right at your accommodations in Veracruz by one of our local bilingual (English/Spanish) guides.

You will travel to the small town of La Antigua where the Spanish ships first landed. There you will see the remains of what is thought to be an administration building built by the Spaniards. It is commonly known as Casa de Cortez. Your guide will explain the known history of this complex as well as give you a tour of how this riverside town was laid out back in the 1500s. Also, you will get to see the very first Spanish church built in the Americas.

Lunchtime! The folks at a nice traditional riverside restaurant will be waiting to serve you a lunch with your choice of fresh regional foods.

Next, it's a short drive to the ancient archeological ruins found in the town of Cempoala. These ruins date back to the 14th and 15th centuries and at that time this location was the capital of the Totonac people consisting of about 30,000 inhabitants. Cempoala (or Zempoala) means "place of the 20 waters" because several rivers come together nearby. Your guide will explain the history of the ruins as he leads you around to the different temples and other structures.

Afterwards, your group will return to the city of Veracruz.
Includes: Pickup from your accommodations or wherever you are staying in the city of Veracruz, all transportation by Suburban, van, or bus (depending on the group size), personal English/Spanish speaking tour guide, all entrance fees, tours per itinerary, lunch (you pay for your drinks), bottled water, and drop off at a location of your choice in the city of Veracruz.

Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel not later than 48 hours prior to the departure time, a full refund will be given.
If you cancel 24-47 hours prior to the departure time, a refund of 50% of the trip cost will be issued.
If you cancel within 24 hours of the departure time, no refund will be issued.
