The Veracruz International Airport (VER) is located about 15 minutes from the downtown area of the port city of Veracruz. The official airport name is General Heriberto Jara Corona International Airport and it is also called, Veracruz-Las Bajadas International Airport.

Aeromexico Connect, American Airlines, and Continental Express are some of the major air carriers that fly into this airport. From the United States, Continental Airlines has direct flights to the city of Veracruz from Houston, Texas (about a 2 hour flight) and American Airlines has daily direct flights from Dallas/Ft. Worth (about a 2.5 hour flight).

Most flight itineraries to the city of Veracruz will have you first going to the Mexico City International Airport where you will then change planes for a short 50 minute flight to the Veracruz-Las Bajadas International Airport.

This airport is small, so once you exit from the baggage carrousel, you will easily see one of our Discover Veracruz Tours representatives holding up a sign with your name on it.

By Bus from the Mexico City Airport

For those travelers who would like to see the Mexican countryside, there are also very modern and comfortable buses that leave right from the Mexico City International Airport and travel non-stop directly to the main bus station in Veracruz (approx. 5 hours). On this scenic trip, you will get to see part of Mexico City, the suburbs, and then eventually you will start to gain elevation as the bus zig-zags back and forth over the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains before heading down into the coastal tropical plains of the state of Veracruz. One of the highlights is traveling through several lighted mountain tunnels in the higher elevations.

The bus company is called ADO and they have a sales office on the first floor of the Mexico City International Airport in Terminal One.
